After the usual protest we went for a walk up to the lake. At 1000ft it’s usually different weather up there than down here in the bottom of the valley. As we approached the lake we could see that there was definitely ice at one end and possibly at the other. The boys broke into a run, wanting to get there and break it. And why not?
When we got to it not all was as it had seemed. Rather than being frozen it was all the bits of broken ice stacked up at one end. As the waves moved it and the wind blew it there was a jingling noise. There were also stripes of white, black and grey. It was quite something to see.
Jacob took a load of photos, then we went round the corner, threw more stones in and played with some of the ice and the settings on the camera. James found kryptonite.
