Pwll-y-Wrach

We’d seen the signs and heard it mentioned a few times but we’d yet to visit the Witches Pool at Talgarth. It’s a nature reserve and there’s more info here: http://www.brecknockwildlifetrust.org.uk/pwll-y-wrach.html

There’s a few ways to get to it but we went to the main car park and walked the easiest route down to it, Which was probably a good idea because the first section was a nice walk but the last little bit was very muddy and slippery. We didn’t see any interesting wildlife but it was still a very nice walk, only took about half an hour and is only 10-15 minutes from home. We went up a steep set of steps and then walked parallel to the road before coming out a bit above where we’d started.

I expect we’ll go back when the grounds a bit drier and do one of the other routes. The photos of the falls are a bit misleading, they’re bigger than they look. We must have driven close by these falls hundreds of times on the way to Abergavenny, shame it took so long to go and have a look at them.
