Reykjavik

Today I had a leisurely start with breakfast at the Cabin Hotel (http://www.hotelcabin.is/) or Hotel Cabin depending where you look. After a bit of a read of some Arnaldur Indridason I packed by bag and walked to the Saga Museum, though I don’t know why it’s called a museum as it doesn’t have any old stuff in it. You listen to an audioguide and look at scenes.(http://sagamuseum.is/).

I quite enjoyed it. Next I headed for the church that looks like a space shuttle and then went to 871+-2 (http://www.reykjavik871.is/) which is the oldest building remains found in Iceland so far. A longhouse and associated finds. That was interesting and the displays were excellent.  Then I grabbed a Danish pastry covered in chocolate and a coffee, popped into the flea market and then went to the Volcano House and watched a couple fo films. (http://volcanohouse.is/). Heading back I went by the lake that had a funny statue.

It’s all quite quaint but transient. Except the cost of everything…that doesn’ seem transient at all.
