On Saturday 6th July I went to Charterhouse for the South East’s Stimulating Physics Day. It started off with a talk by Professor Paddy Regan, Specialist in Radiation Physics from the University of Surrey entitled Radioactivity Everywhere: How do we date the Earth?
I found it really interesting as well as being well delivered. After that there followed a massive selection of workshops. Cloud Chambers, Dragsters, Datamouse, Wind Power, What Happens Next?, EM Spectrum…and more….it seemed like an endless list.
Look again at that second word; it was a Saturday! Glorious sunshine, what a great day to be with your family. But were the 100 or so teachers that turned out in their own time? Nope, they were there to improve their teaching.
Tea break….I should have bought the Pimms.
We’ve done a load of these day meetings for teachers of physics once again this year and it’s fantastic seeing teachers running CPD for other teachers and seeing how well it goes down. One of the best bits on Saturday was seeing the other teachers wanting to hep us clear up after we’d run a workshop. It was an inspirational day.
